چکیده

Proof. The proof is by induction on dimX. The case dimX = 0 is clear. Let x ∈ X be a smooth H-fixed point and consider the blow up BxX with exceptional divisor E ∼= P. The H-action lifts to BxX and so we get an H-action on E which has a fixed point by (1.1). Since Y is proper, the induced rational map BxX → X 99K Y is defined outside a subset of codimension at least 2. Thus we get an H-equivariant rational map E 99K Y . By induction, there is a fixed point on Y .

Rational Fixed Points for Linear Group Actions

Pietro Corvaja §1 Introduction. A general principle in the theory of diophantine equations asserts that if an equation admits " many " rational solutions, there should be a geometric reason explaining such abundance. We consider here a (multiplicative) semigroup of N ×N matrices with rational entries: we suppose that all of them admit rational eigenvalues and deduce the natural geometrical cons...

ec 1 99 5 Non - symplectic involutions of a K 3 surface

Let S be a smooth minimal K3 surface defined over C , G a finite group acting on S. The induced linear action of G on H 0 (ω S) ∼ = C leads to an exact sequence 1 −→ K −→ G −→ N −→ 1 , where the non-symplectic part N is a cyclic group Z m , which acts on the intermediate quotient S/K which is also K3. It is well-known that the Euler number ϕ(m) of m must divide 22 − ρ(S) ([N], Corollary 3.3), i...

Free actions of nite groups on rational homology 3 - spheres

The purpose of this note is to prove the following: Theorem 1.1 Let G be a nite group. Then there is a rational homology S 3 on which G acts freely. That any nite group acts freely on some closed 3-manifold is easy to arrange: There are many examples of closed 3-manifolds whose fundamental groups surject a free group of rank two (for example, by taking a connected sum of S 1 S 2 's) and by pass...

The Rationality Problem for Three- and Four-Dimensional permutational Group Actions

Assume that K is a field, containing the full group of 4th roots of unity μ4, and char K = 2, 3. Let G be a finite non-abelian subgroup of GLn(K) for n = 3 or n = 4. The group G induces an action on K(x1, . . . , xn), the rational function field of n variables over K. Consider groups represented by matrices such that in each row and column there is exactly one element from μ4 and all other elem...
